to help your business get
the right energy solution.

LPG Gas at Home

LPG from Flogas is an ideal fuel for all uses around the home, from domestic central heating, living flame fire effects and cooking.

Regulator Selection

Propane bottles contain considerably greater pressure than butane cylinders. Cylinder regulators designed for use with either propane or butane are not interchangeable because of:-

  • Their different design pressure.
  • The dissimilar bottle valves for the two gases.

The regulator must be matched to the appliance working pressure and throughput use:

  • High pressure regulators for equipment designed for high pressure (usually 1 bar / 15psi; 0-2 bar / 0-30 psi) propane.
  • Low pressure regulators for equipment designed for low pressure, usually 28mbar (11.2in WG) butane or 37 mbar (14.8in WG) propane.

To select the correct regulator, check the appliance catalogue or examine the appliance itself. There should be a data plate stating the required throughput and inlet pressure.

If in doubt, consult the appliance manufacturer or Flogas Technical Department.

NEVER run a low pressure appliance on a variable regulator.

Fitting of hoses and regulators to gas appliances

Hoses and regulators should comply with the relevant British and European standards. Only 20mm regulators should be used with blue cylinders, and 21mm regulators with gold cylinders. Ensure hose is correct size to fit regulator nozzle. Apply light coat of washing up liquid to nozzle of regulator. Push hose firmly over complete nozzle and tighten Worm screw clip or Crimp O Clip. Fit regulator to cylinder valve and switch on gas supply. Apply soapy water solution to points.

If bubbles appear on any of the joints, either:

  1. The Worm screw clip is not tight enough. Remedy: tighten Worm screw clip
  2. The connection is not properly made. Remedy: remove connection and refit.
Push hose firmly over the complete nozzle and tighten Worm screw clip or crimp O-clip.
Apply light coat of washing up liquid to nozzle of appliance.
