Flogas uses Forum to highlight the benefits of LPG

Opened by HRH Princess Anne, The World LP Gas Forum London 2013 was a timely platform to reinforce the financial and environmental benefits of switching to LPG.

Managing director of Flogas Group, Henry Cubbon, said: “Households and businesses that don’t have access to mains gas are under great pressure to switch away from higher cost fuels such as heating oil, coal and electricity. LPG provides an increasingly cost effective solution with the additional benefit of significantly lower CO2 emissions and production of significantly fewer pollutants, such as NOX and sulphur.”

Flogas showcased the power of LPG at a specially-created bar, treating Forum delegates to Scottish Whisky produced by a business making the most of fuel cost and carbon emission savings as a result of switching from oil to LPG, and working with Flogas as an energy partner.

A single malt ‘Knockdhu’ whisky was sourced from the Inver House Distillery, which switched to Flogas LPG from heavy fuel oil, saving 8% in annual fuel costs and 18% in carbon emissions in the process.

A report from UKLPG, the trade association of the LP Gas Industry, entitled Targeting Carbon Reduction in off Grid Britain: the case for LP Gas was also launched at the Forum. It urges the Government to ensure that LPG plays a key role in the plans to meet the nation’s future carbon reduction targets.

Henry Cubbon said: “We fully support the UKLPG’s analysis which concluded that LPG fuelled appliances can play a significant role in reducing carbon emissions and energy bills for rural customers. Building LPG’s presence in the renewable sector of the domestic market is something that we are firmly focused on and we’re looking forward to industry collaboration to further support rural Britain.”
