An overview…

The Academy provides a structured programme for new and existing colleagues to become qualified LPG technicians. The Training Academy includes a mixture of theoretical and practical learning that delivers the knowledge and skills required to obtain the correct levels of technical certification and is Gas Safe registered.

About

Located in Avonmouth, Bristol, our national training academy is a centre of excellence for LPG vessel installation, vessel maintenance, delivery of product and is the only one of its kind in the UK.

Who can benefit from our National Training Academy?

Apprentices

We are committed to developing fresh talent and offer an apprenticeship scheme, taking on up to a dozen trainees each year. The 24-month intensive programme provides academy-based training, along with on-the-job skills development and a full-time position at the company.

The Technical Academy includes a mixture of theoretical and practical learning that will provide you with all of the knowledge and skills you’ll need to obtain the correct levels of certification. Completing the Apprenticeship Programme will support you to move into a technician or engineer role in your area – either immediately or gradually as you build your confidence.

LPG Technicians

We provide a structured programme for both new and existing staff to become qualified LPG technicians. This includes a mixture of theoretical and practical learning to deliver the knowledge and skills required to obtain the correct levels of technical certification. The programme is also Gas Safe accredited.

Our existing workforce

The training academy’s primary objective is to support the training needs of staff across all functions within the business. It is a bespoke facility which allows us to recruit, upskill, develop, and retain the Flogas workforce, from our engineers, apprentices, and drivers, right through to our sales and office support staff.

It has welcomed over 250 people through its doors to date, and prides itself on providing a practical and safe environment for our workforce to learn, grow, and develop to the highest possible standards.

The academy is fitted with a wide array of tanks and specialist equipment for our trainees to work and learn from, providing a real-world, high-quality, and hands-on training ground.

What is a LPG Technician Apprenticeship?

The LPG Technician apprenticeship is a personal development programme that will be completed whilst you are at work and being paid. The aim of the programme is to develop the right people with the right behaviours to become Flogas’ Technicians/Engineers of the future.

What level is the apprenticeship?

The LPG Technician programme is an intermediate apprenticeship at level 2.

If im successful onto the programme, what happens next?

You will be notified of your success and details of what you need to do next will be part of the communication. You will be expected to attend a medical and we would urge you to complete this as soon as possible.

What will my training look like?

Throughout the 14-months of the programme you will be expected to attend formal training sessions as well as completing on-the-job training and coaching with your Mentor. We recognise that the winter months are our busiest times so we have designed the programme to keep formal training to a minimum during this period. The training and support you receive will culminate in an End-Point Assessment which when passed, will qualify you as an LPG Technician. Where will the training place?

Training will take place at our Training Academy in Avonmouth, with members of our own training and mentor teams.

How will Flogas support me throughout my apprenticeship?

Flogas will support you to progress through your programme by giving you the time to attend formal training courses, complete assessments and by providing you with a Mentor who will support you through every step of your journey.

Will I have a job at the end of the apprenticeship?

The apprenticeship programme will enable you to acquire the qualifications and knowledge needed to be a proficient LPG Technician. It is our intention to place you into a full-time Technician role upon successful completion of the programme.
